Winter Carnival is in full swing, and the students are excited to have some time away from school to take part in the celebration. This year is especially festive with the Olympics also getting ready to begin and the 30th anniversary of the 1980 Olympics held in Lake Placid. Our school and our region has much to be proud of with so many local atheletes participating in the games this year. While some may attribute this success to the world class venues our students have to train at, I feel their success is the result of something more substantial. The support of the individuals in and among our communities fosters the development of our youth in a way that can't be measured. I'm proud of our students and our atheletes, but I am equally proud of the community that stands behind them. I look forward to the future success of all our young men and women, knowing they are all champions in their own right.
Another reminder about attendance: If your child is having difficulty with his or her attendance, please contact the school to set up a meeting where we can discuss strategies to improve this facet of your child's education. The time to address this critical issue is now, not later in the spring when it may be too late. Regular attendance is a strong indicator of student success in school, while poor attendance is a strong risk factor for students not completing school. Help ensure your child's future success by insisting on their regular attendance at school. Thank you and GO USA!
